Weekly OOTD. Pintrest Inspired

A few of this weeks outfits were inspired by Pintrest.   The lovely ladies of Instagram have a Pin and Spin challenge going on for the month of September.  This is one of my favorite challenges.  I love seeing others outfits and then putting my own spin on it.

Here are the outfits I put together this week..

I didn't own a red skirt so instead I wore a red dress which I got a few years ago from Target and threw on a yellow cardigan that I got from Marshalls.  The necklace is from Charming Charlie and the shoes from Shoe Carnival.  This whole outfit was something I have had in my closet for years but never thought to combine the colors together.

This was a fun outfit to put together and to be quite honest it was a bit out of my comfort zone.  I don't normally tuck my shirts in because I always feel I look weird.  But I took a chance and this outfit came together perfect.  It's hard to see in the photo but my skirt is Navy and White stripped.   Instead of wearing a pink top I wore a Navy top to match the skirt and paired it with a pink necklace.    The skirt and shoes are both from Target.  The cardigan is from Nordstrom. The tank is from Kohl's and the necklace is from Charming Charlie.

I love this look.  Another color combo I would never think to put together.  The pop of pink just completed this look.  The dress I got from Kohl's. The cardigan is a recent purchase from Target.  I picked this cardi up for 50% off and then got an additional 15% off that.   The necklace is also a recent purchase from Charming Charlie.  I love the chunkiness of this necklace.  The polka dot flats I bought a few years ago from Ross.

This one was not a Pintrest inspired outfit.  Although it's after Labor that doesn't mean I have to put away my white pants.  Right?  I paired it with a chambray shirt and a neutral color scarf.  I wanted to give it a pop of color so I put on this hot pink belt.  I thought it gave the outfit some character.    The pants and belt are from Target.  The booties and shirt are from Old Navy and the scarf is from Charming Charlie.

On Friday's we get to wear jeans to work.  This was the first time I wore denim on denim.  I wasn't too sure about it at first but it seem to come together pretty nicely.    To break up the denim I wore this adorable tee that I got from Kohl's and paired it with a navy striped scarf.  The jeans are Rockstar Old Navy jeans. The Jacket I from Mejier and the scarf from Charming Charlie.

So there you go, my  round-up of my outfits for the week.  If anyone wants to join the pinitandspinit challenge check out my instagram and you can play along.

Wednesday Fall Wish List

Does anyone agree that this summer went by with a blink of an eye?  I love summer and I am very sad to see it go.  However I do love fall almost as much as summer.

Sweater weather is one of my favorite things about fall.   I love being able to put on a light sweater and a scarf.   This sweater from Old navy is perfect.   It comes in multiple colors but I really love this white one.   I could pair it with some dark jeans and flats for a comfy cute look or add some heels to dress it up a bit.

Check out the color options here.  Old Navy

Another fall favorite of mine are boots!  You can never have too many boots.  Tall boots, short boots, boots with heels, flat boots.  I had a pair of brown boots that I just wore all the time.  They were very similar to the style shown here.  I had them for years and they were my go to boots, but last year I had to say good bye to them.   The material started cracking and they just didn’t look nice anymore.  I haven’t found a pair to replace them until now.  These riding boots from DSW are just what I’m looking for.  They come just below the knee and they are extremely comfortable.  I can’t wait to wear these with some skinny jeans and a sweater.   You can get these beauties here.  DSW

These Army pants from Old Navy are just too cute!  I already have an idea of what I would do with these.  I could go casual with a pair of flats and a tee, or dress them up with a tee, a statement necklace and ankle booties.

Here is the link to these adorable pants.  Old Navy

As I mentioned in a previous post you can never have too many scarves.  Charming Charlie has been killing it with scarves this year.  Right now they are on sale for 4.99 and it is buy one get one. This scarf is so pretty with all the neutral colors in it.

Check out Charming Charlie's website besides this beautiful scarf there are many more to choose from.  Charming Charlie

Besides fall clothing my other favorite fall items are candles.  I love bath and body work candles.  Every year I must buy at least one pumpkin scent and one apple scent.  These two are new this year.    They smell lovely.  I'm just waiting for the 2 for 22.00 sale and these will be coming home with me!  There are tons of fall scents out there that smell fabulous.  I can't wait to stock up on them.  Bathandbodyworks

These are just a few of my fall wish list items.  Check back next week because I'm pretty sure I will be picking up one or two of these items this weekend.  I would love for you to see how I styled it!

One Tee Worn Five Ways

I must admit I wasn't one who wore tee shirts too often.  I always felt like when I wore them that I wasn't dressy enough.  Up until maybe a month or so ago I didn't own too many tees.  I decided to try them out and see what I could do with them to make them more fashionable.  I started with a plain white tee and worked my way up to the graphic tee.   There are so many adorable graphic tees out there right now I had to give them a try.  I decided to take one of my favorite ones and play around with different outfit ideas.   This is what I came up with.

Outfit 1: Super Casual

When running errands I want to be comfortable yet stylish.  I took this tee and paired it with my Rockstar distressed jeans from Old Navy.  I added this multi strand necklace and glitter cons to dress it up just a bit.

Top: Old Navy
Jeans: Old Navy
Necklace: Accessory Fair
Shoes Cons

Outfit 2: Business Casual

For this look I took my tee added this adorable polka dot skirt to make it a business casual outfit.  To dress it up even more I added black heels and a pearl necklace.  Very simple but work appropriate outfit.

Top: Old Navy
Skirt: Kohls
Necklace: Walmart
Shoes: Shoe Carnival

Outfit 3: Color Pants

I added red pants to give this outfit a little pop.  Really you can wear any color.  I paired it with some leopard heels, a statement necklace and this multicolor clutch.

Top: Old Navy
Pants: Marshalls
Necklace: Charming Charlie
Clutch: Charming Charlie
Shoes: Old Navy

Outfit 4:  Add a Cardigan

This outfit is perfect for a nice fall day.  I love cardigans and this one goes great with this outfit.   Sticking with the leopard themed I added a leopard scarf and flats.  Cute and comfy!

Shirt: Old Navy
Scarf: Walmart
Cardigan: Target
Flats: Target

Outfit 5: Add a Blazer

This outfit is perfect for date night.  I love the white blazer with this tee.   Just add a pair a pumps and a sparkly necklace and bam!  You are ready to go.   Very Classy.

Shirt: Old Navy
Blazer: Kohls
Jeans: Old Navy
Necklace: Charming Charlie
Heels: Payless

With all these great styles I will definitely be buying more tee shirts.  The possibilities are endless.   This graphic tee is just one of many I have purchased from Old Navy.  Check out their website and see all the great options they have.

Wish list Wednesday

Hey all! Sorry I've been MIA.   It's been a busy last two weeks.  I'm back and ready to share another Wednesday wish list with you! So here we go!

1.  CLEAR BRILLIANCE BRACELET

How pretty is this bracelet?  This transparent bracelet from Charming Charlie is accented with opaque jewels, sparkling round jewels and features an adjustable snap-button closure. You can chose from 4 different colors; Dark Yellow, Light Blue, Dark Pink and Brown.   I have my eye on the light blue one shown here.  The price was originally 13.00 but it is marked down to 2.99.  What a great deal!  Check out this link to see the other colors.  Prices do vary.  (charmingcharlie.com)

2.  Women’s Striped Boat Neck Top.

Old Navy has really done it again.  I really love the boat neckline and decorative buttons on the shoulders of this top.   This would go perfect with a pair of dark blue jeans.  You can add a pair of boat shoes and an anchor necklace for a nice nautical theme. This shirt comes in multiple colors check out Old Navy's website for the different colors available.   (Old Navy)

3. Women's patterned-pocket shirt

You can never have too many dress shirts.  I have been on a hunt for a yellow shirt for over a year and this one is just perfect.    The material is 55% linen so it should be nice and light for those hot days of summer.  Throw this shirt on with a pair of cutoff shorts and flip flops for a casual look.  For a dressier look pair it with some dark jeans, add a cardigan and some pumps.  You can also check out this shirt at Old Navy.  (Old Navy)

4.  Light Green Strappy Detail Peep Toe Sandal Wedges Faux Leather

Can we just talk about these shoes for a minute?   The first time I saw these shoes they were on the ever so cute Iris at http://loveirisblog.blogspot.com They were just too cute for words so I had to check out the website.  There are tons of fabulous shoes on this site for a great price.  These particular ones are just darling. I love the mint color.  I have never seen a style like this before. I am in love! Check out the website and you will be in love too!  (Amiclubwear)

5. Animal Print infinity scarf

A girl can never have too many scarves.  Who agrees with me?   Not only does this scarf have an animal print in it but it‘s multi-colored which opens endless possibilities.  Pull a color out of the scarf and match it with your favorite top or go with a plain white tee and style it with this scarf.  You just went from simple to fab! (Charming Charlie)

Check back next Wednesday, I just may have purchased one of these fabulous items.  I can't wait to show you how I styled them.

                                                              xoxo

Weekly OOTD

Hey there!!! Does anyone else feel like this weekend just flew by?  Before we start another week I would like to share with you my ootd post from last week.  I like to participate in some Instagram photo challenges.  Not only are they fun to do, but it also makes it much easier to pick out an outfit.    Some outfits are inspired by the #trendyruffleprepstyle challenge.  Monday Metallic, Shoes day Tuesday, and Pink,White and Blue.   Below you can see my take on some of these challenges.

Monday:  This top is one of my favorites.  It's hard to see in this picture, but the collar has these beautiful studs on them.   My mom gave this to me for my birthday so I’m not exactly sure where it’s from.  My guess would be Kohl's.    The layered necklace was also given to me as a gift.  I love the layer of the different types of necklaces and the combination of gold and silver within the chains.

(Necklace similar here Forever 21)

Tuesday:  The yellow cardigan I bought from Marshall's a couple years ago.  I have styled this cardi many different ways.  Whether I threw it on over a tank top or added it to a dress, it always gives a nice pop to my outfit.  The tank underneath is pretty old.  I bought it from Body Central.  You can’t see this with my cardigan on but the back of the tank has a cute little chain that goes across the top of it.  These sandals are one of my go to pair of shoes when I want to wear heels and I know I will be walking a lot.  I have had these shoes from probably about 10 years.   The different color straps make the shoe go with a variety of colors.  They are the most comfortable pair of sandals I own.  I would say for having them as long as I have, they sure are holding up quite well.  The brand is Mudd and I want to say I got them from Kohl's.  The white pants are more recent, I found them by accident on the clearance rack at Target for 12.00.  You can't go wrong with a pair of white pants.

Wednesday:  The color combo on this outfit is a first for me.  And I must say I think I will be putting these colors together more often.  The shirt is one of many I have from Old Navy.  The pops of pink in the print is just darling.  The pants are from Marshall's.  They are my very first pair of color pants and I sure do like to wear them quite often.  Going with the pops of pink in my shirt I added this beautiful necklace from Charming Charlie’s.   The shoes are another old pair made by Mudd that I believe are from Kohl's.

( Top similar style here Old Navy)  (Pants similar here Charlotte Russe

Thursday:  We had our company picnic this day so I wanted to wear something a little more comfortable.  I decided to go with just a basic Tee and dress it up slightly with a statement necklace.  The Tee I bought from Wet seal.  Check out their website, they usually have some good deals on tees and tanks.  Usually they are 5 for 20.00.  The necklace I found at Walmart.  That store is really stepping up their game on accessories. For some added fun I wore my leopard flats that I bought from Target.  I debated about buying these shoes but I am so glad I did. They are going to be on repeat this fall.

(Top Wet Seal) (Shoes Target)

Friday: I just purchased this army colored vest at Sears a few weeks ago.  I got it 70% off.  I couldn’t resist that price.   I have so many ideas on how I want to style this vest.  This  time I just went with a tan striped long sleeve shirt.   I added on this fun multi strand gold chain to dress it up a bit.  The sandals I also scored from Target for a great price and I’m glad I picked them up.  They go with many outfits and our extremely comfy.

Summer Fun...

Every summer for the past five years or so, a group of friends and I rent a boat in Lake Geneva Wisconsin.   This is something we all look forward to each year, but the weather doesn't always cooperate with us.   I remember last year getting on the boat in August wearing a jacket.  Not really my idea of boat weather.  Luckily though, this time it was perfect.   The temps were in the 80's and the sun came out just enough for us to enjoy the warmth but it was not unbearably hot.

We got there this morning and boarded the boat at 10AM,  it's a perfect time because there isn't a whole lot of people out on the lake.  We had the rental for 4 hours, but boy did those hours fly by.

The place we rent the boat from is called Milligan's Island.  Anyone in the Wisconsin area interested in renting a boat this is a good spot.  Check out their website below.  http://www.milligansislandboatrentals.com

This was our rental for the day.  The boat fits 15 passengers, but with only being 6 of us it was very comfy cozy.

So let me introduce you to my little circle of friends.  On the left is my sister Tiffany, in the middle is my best friend Kristina and then that's me on the right!  Here we are enjoying a nice beverage in a fancy sippy cup!   Don't mind our wind blown hair! Lol.

Here we have on the right, my husband Alex, in the center my brother-in-law Alex and on the right Ted. You'll be hearing more about these awesome people in future posts, I'm sure of it.  :)

Group selfie!!!! Thank goodness for my husbands long arms, otherwise we would have never been able to get us all in this photo.

The houses, or shall I say mansions on the lake front are just incredible.  This is just one of many houses we saw.  I would love to have a house like this located right on the lake!

I mean how awesome is this picture?!!!  The best part was that when he jumped it was a quick decision for me to grab the camera and shoot.

Alex swore the water was not that bad so Kris and I decided to jump in, boy did he lie.  That water was freezing!  We stayed in long enough to take a picture with our matching tubes and got right back out.  Brr!

Anytime we are all together somehow we turn whatever it is we are doing into a photo shoot.  So here are few more fun pictures we took.

I'm so glad I was able to spend the day with all of these amazing people and I look forward to our boat trip again next summer.

Beach Essentials

Tomorrow  I will be spending the day out on the waters in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. When spending the day out in the sun I like to have a well stocked beach bag.  I thought I would share a few functional and affordable beach essentials that I like to take along with me.

This is one of my favorite summer items. When I’m outside in the heat I don’t like to put on a lot of make-up, so I use this moisturizer by E.L.F.   It keeps my skin smooth, with a tint of color and it also has SPF in it.  I picked up this product at Target, but you can also get it on the E.L.F website.

Tinted Moisturizer

I am obsessed with Baby Lips products.  I have multiple colors, but this is my go to balm when it comes to spending the day outdoors.  Not only does it have SPF to protect my lips from the sun, but it also gives me a nice glossy look.

Lip Balm

These wipes are great for when you need to freshen up and a shower is not an option.  I like to use these when I leave the beach or pool to remove the sand or chlorine from my skin.  I picked these up from the dollar tree. Not a bad product for a dollar.

Body Wipes

Now we all know how important sunscreen is.  I used to think that since I didn't burn I didn't need to use it. Well it’s not a matter of if you burn, it’s a matter of protecting your skin from any type of skin disease and since I want to keep my skin healthy I choose to wear it.    Since I do tan quite easily I go with a lower SPF.  I’ve been buying the Up and Up Brand from Target, which is a little less money and seems to work just fine.

Sun Screen

I love wearing sunglasses.   The small amount of light makes me squint and who wants squinty eyes?!  Especially when you know there will be pictures taken.   Although I love sunglasses I do not spend a lot of money on them since I am prone to breaking them or losing them.   I picked up these beauties at Charming Charlie’s for 15.00.  Check out their selection at  charmingcharlie.com

Sun Glasses

I am a sucker for Bath and Body Works body sprays.  I buy the travel size bottles so they fit nicely into my bag.   One of my favorite summer scents is Beautiful Day.

Body Spray

I I don’t know about you but if my hair gets wet and I don’t have a straightener handy it turns into a frizzy mess.  So I just spray a little of this, scrunch and bam!   I have nice curly hair!

Curly Spray

These are nice to blot away any oil or sweat on your face.  I have used the Clean and Clear sheets in the past but I just discovered that E.L.F makes them and they work just as well.

Oil Absorbent

I tend to get dry skin after sitting out in the sun or in the sand.  So I just spray a little of this on and I’m good to go!  It goes on nice and smooth without that sticky feel.

Spray and go lotion

Last but not least my bag….  I actually have two bags that I like to bring along.  One for my towel and extra clothes and one for everything else.   The bag on the left I purchased from an event that was held at my work.  I really like this bag because not only are the colors fun but the material is vinyl so water does not soak through.   It is the perfect size to fit my giant beach towel.  The bag on the right I got from Target. It came with all these mini bags, which trust me I use.  I can separate my items but still carry it all in one bag.

Check back later this weekend to see how our day on the boat went!  Happy Friday! Hope you have a great weekend!

xoxo
